eLearning Network Conference Guest Speaker
I'm thrilled to be one of the guest speakers at the upcoming eLearning Network event on Emerging Trends in Learning Technologies on 21 November 2008. There are some great names on the bill and the conference looks to be as pertinent as ever - not to be missed. My session is going to be hands-on, examining new technologies and the learning needs they could meet. Book your ticket now!

Stop the Press
Actually, don't. I've been commissioned to write a series of articles for the Training Journal magazine to be published monthly from January 2009. The first, entitled 'eLearning What is it Good For?', looks at where elearning works well and where other training methods should be considered. The series of articles aims to help those who are new to elearning make their first steps successful ones.

e2train Conference Guest Speaker
I recently spoke at the e2train Kallidus Uncovered 2008 user conference. The event was in the beautiful Cotswold Water Park. I delivered a session on 'Instructional Design Best Practices' as the autumn sunshine glinted off the lake. The session went down well and I met some great people too.

Rob Hubbard
Rob Hubbard
My name is Rob Hubbard and I am an e-Learning Architect. I work with organisations to develop innovative e-learning content. I've been doing this for ten years and in 2005 founded LearningAge Solutions.

As we edge nearer to a global recession it is more important than ever that companies maintain their competitive advantage. In short you've got to work smarter and better than ever before. A key way to do this is by ensuring your people have the knowledge and skills to excel in their jobs.

Some organisations may be tempted to cut back on training in these potentially hard times. However experience and research has shown that such companies damage their ability to respond to changing market conditions. But here is some good news: you can still train your people effectively at a reduced cost if you know the right way to do it.

I use a network of trusted associates to design, develop and deliver innovative e-learning content for many large UK and international organisations. Through my choice of development tools and processes, content is developed in weeks rather than months.

e-Learning increases both access to training and the flexibility of how it is delivered. Add to that the reduced cost of training per head and time away from the business, and e-learning is a compelling option.

RAPID E-LEARNING
With the growth of Rapid E-learning, authoring tools continue to become more powerful and easier to use. Subsequently, it is now possible to produce terrible e-learning faster than ever before! Often a licence is purchased for an authoring tool, software training is given, and someone with little e-learning experience is expected to build effective content.

Help is at hand: from the thought bubbles page you can access some of the best practices I find useful. I’ve specifically picked ones I think will be of most benefit to those new to e-learning.

I also offer a number of services related to rapid e-learning that will help you minimise costs whilst still getting top quality content.

Also on the thought bubbles page you will find some recommended books, films and links.
